Finding my Happiness


One fall night in September, I was brought into this world. I was born into a family consisting of my parents and two sisters. Being new to the world I did not know how much there was to explore in this great life.

Three years later, 188, I was walking, talking, and being a little brat. That was what I did best. By being a bratty, spoiled child I tried to get my way, and most of the time I did! I used to be very mean to others I did not like, which was mostly everyone. I hear stories now about those times. When I was younger I used to have really thick, curly hair. So people say, it made me look really cute and friendly. I was just the opposite. From what people tell me I used to kick, and spit on people. Obviously, I grew out of that stage, but for me that was being happy. For the most part, I was a happy kid growing up. When I was really young I did get my way. I was a spoiled little monster. I was happy though. I had no worries in the world. What could I possibly have to worry about? At that time I did not go to school, or have to deal with friends or anything of that sort. I was happy because I had nothing to worry about in life.


To continue, as I got older, I started getting really close with my family and sisters, and began to see how important they were to me. I began to leave my younger years, and start a new mature life in high school. This is when I started questioning my happiness. What did it take to make me happy? I found that when I was in school gossiping with my friends I was happy. I was happy having a nice Italian feast on the holidays with my entire family. I was happy playing sports and being active. Those are the type of things that made me feel warm, and happy, and grateful for each day.


However, my senior year of high school came around and my happiness started to dye down. I experienced what I never thought I would go through as a 17 year old. In that one year I went through many close deaths. My friend, teacher and best friend’s father all passed away. These were all really tough times to have to deal with. Although, I was not the one going through this, therefore I had help of my family and friends to deal with it. This is where I found my happiness to no longer be there. How could I be happy when people die? Will I ever be happy again? What will I have to do to be happy?


It took the solace of my friends and family to bring back my happiness. I took a lot to recuperate from those hard times. Yet, it was easier knowing I had so many people helping me and standing by my side. However, this did affect more people then me, and for that I comforted many people too. Just to know I had strong people to relay on whenever I needed them made me think about my happiness again. Out of all this I realized what made me happy was living each day to the fullest and have no regrets.


In conclusion, personally happiness for me comes and goes. There are times that I am the happiest person. Yet when those bad times occur, I cannot find my happiness. For now, my family and friends mean everything to me, and to know I can count on them for absolutely anything, I am happy!
