Bart and Cletus were playing kickball in the park one day, when all of a sudden Hubert and his buddies pulled up to the park and began to open fire. Bart and Cletus tried to run and dodge the bullets. They were both shot and killed instantly. Why are killings like this happening? Why do kids think that it is ok to show their violence and hurt others? And can or will it ever be stopped?
I believe that the killings among kids today is do to the evil that is in all people, according to the theme of William Goldwins Lord of the Flies. The evil inside of young kids today is coming out more and more than in the past. And I think that it is due to the fact that many kids today have divorced or single parents, as a result kids may be joining or getting involved in trouble. With the absence of a parent or a broken home, kids are missing an authority figure. Without an authority figure kids have no one to tell them what is right or wrong, so they go out and do whatever they want and let the evil inside of them show.
With kids not knowing what is right or wrong the smallest things can easily influence them. Television is one big factor that I think influences kids the most. The shows on television show violence and killings everyday. And some kids don’t realize that the shows on television aren’t reality. They think that the violent actions shown on television are real and that it’s ok to go out and do what they see on television. Another big influence that brings out evil in kids today is certain kinds of music. The lyrics in some songs today tell kids that it’s ok to go out and hurt other people. Some lyrics also tell kids to show hatred toward others because they’re of a different race or gender. And with popular artist singing rhymes about violence lets kids know that if the artist says its ok, so the kids think that it’s ok.
Another big influence on young kids today is the crowd or friends that they hang out with. Most kids today who let their evil show in violence often hang out with the bad crowd. One way to stop this problem is having activities that keep the kids busy after school. If their are activities for the kids to do then their spending most of their free time with the activities instead if getting into trouble with others. And it is also the parent’s guardian’s job to know whom their kids hang out with, where their kids are going to be at, and what their kids are doing. With the parents or guardians stepping up and knowing what their kids do this could possible stop them from hanging out with the wrong kind of people who get into trouble all the time.
I believe that the killings among young people today can be stopped. The evil inside of kids today can be stopped. Teaching kids at a young age the difference between what is right and wrong can stop the evil actions. Parents could be more of an authority figure to their kids by laying down the law. And by knowing what kind of shows they watch on television, what kind of music they listen to, and the people that they hang out with.

The innocence of children represents the main theme in Alice Walker’s short story. Alice Walker’s short story, “The Flowers,” relates the innocence of a young girl. This young girl, Myop, encounters a personal change within herself while picking flowers in the woods. Alice Walker uses the flowers to symbolize the innocence that Myop will eventually lose.
As Myop begins her adventure, she happily makes her “own path” (7). This path leads her to new flowers that she has not seen before. Walker describes the flowers as “an armful of strange blue flowers with velvety ridges and sweet-suds bush full of the brown fragrant buds” (7). The new flowers symbolize that things are good without any troubles. Walker uses this symbolization to inform readers that Myop’s innocence is still present and this is a happy time for Myop.
The new path that Myop has taken leads her not only to new flowers, but also a strange unfamiliar place. “She had often been as far before, but the strangeness of the land made it not as pleasant as her usual haunts” (7). Although this place is unfamiliar, Myop continues her new path to pick flowers. As she begins to “circle back to the house,” she stumbles upon a body (7). She is not frightened by this encounter, but curious and intrigued. She gazes around the spot until she notices as wild pink rose. She picks the wild pink rose and notices “the rotted remains of a noose” (74). Walker uses the pink rose to symbolize Myop’s understanding of the situation.
This new path of picking new flowers leads to the realization that the skeleton was beaten and hung. It is obvious by the description Walker uses that this skeleton was once of an African American. It is at this point that Myop’s happy time of picking flowers has been lost. Picking only one flower lost the innocence that Myop once possessed. The symbolization of this flower informs readers that Myop realizes what occurs in her own African American environment.
The flowers symbolize Myop’s innocence as a child. One of the last lines of the story says, “Myop laid down her flowers” (74). The flowers represent the loss of Myop’s innocence, but she lays down the flowers as a sign of respect also. This sign of respect symbolizes the personal change of maturing. Walker uses this symbolism to inform readers that Myop has loss her innocence because of the realization of what occurs in her own African American environment.

together in an apartment in Santa Monica Boulevard. These five friends have
known each other for a very long time. They went to kindergarten together,
then school together and now they’re at UCLA (University of California in
Los Angeles) together. They’ve chaired their good and bad times together,
never had a fight between each other. Every one is willing to sacrifice for the
others. They love each other a lot. Jason; the eldest, always felt he was a
special person. He always felt he was different than the others, as if he had
some kind of special abilities buried inside him that he can’t use. He wants to
be a doctor. Bill; the second in term of age, wants to be an engineer. John; the
third in term of age, is the calmest on of them all. He wants to be a dentist like
his father who had passed away a month ago. Mike; the fourth in term of age,
plans on working with his father in his company after he graduates from
computer science. Patrick; the youngest, who has just turned 17 wants to be a
psychologist and help other people.
As we all have been waiting for the night of December 1st, they too were
Waiting to celebrate the coming of the new Millennium, the year 000. They
five were planning to go to a party who one of their friends have been
organizing. They all went to their friend’s house to celebrate the millennium
there. It was very crowded there and they all danced. After the clock struck 1,
Jason felt a strange feeling inside him. He went out in the back yard to have
some fresh air. He suddenly saw something up in the sky, which emitted a
beam of light that struck his eyes and made him pass out. He was then taken to
the nearest hospital. He was in a coma for a week. His friends were so worried
about him. They were so happy when he woke up. The first thing he started
saying as soon as he woke up from his coma that he saw a space ship coming
from the sky and that he saw some aliens who looked just like him. No one of
course believed him, not even his closest friends who pretended that they
believe him. He was taken to an asylum. He tried to convince any one, but no
one believed him at all. To get out the asylum, he had to change his story and
pretend to haven’t seen any thing of what he had previously said. He went
directly to the place where he had saw the space ship before. As the clock
struck 1 o’clock (mid night) he again saw a space ship. It landed on the
ground and aliens came out of the space ship. Their faces looked just like
Jason. Jason started opening a conversation with them, but they didn’t speak
like our language. Some how Jason managed to understand what they’ve been
trying to tell him. He understood that he is one of them and they want him to go
with them to his home, family and relatives. Jason couldn’t believe it. He kept
thinking and thinking to go or not to go with them. While thinking of this, he
remembered his dear friends and realized he would never be able to live
without them.
This story shows how true friendship is very strong. No matter happens,
good friends are friends for ever.

In our lives we meet many people. Some we remember and call our friends, others pass and are called acquaintances. Yet those who instill a lasting impression of their support and confidence in us will always be, a companion. I was lucky enough to have had a person like this in my life to assist in showing me my true potential.
Charlene Farley was more than a family friend to me; she shared the same interests and ideals as I did. Char was a strong independent woman who knew that wherever her life took her, she would be able to adjust. She had been married and divorced twice, owned and managed a company, and always made sure she was a mother to her four children. She reached out to my family whenever we were in a predicament that seemed to have no solution.
She was the accountant for her company and loved math. While I was on my way to a new town, Channahon, and on to junior high. Our new house was not completely finished when our old house was sold, so Char insisted we stay with her. At that point Char was past being a friend; she was like a second mother to me. She always made sure her kids, myself included, had finished their homework before anything else.
When I transferred, I was supposed to be placed in a higher level of Science, English, and Math. The new junior high only offered the subjects English and Math in a higher level. At this new junior high I was not recommended to take those classes even with my transcripts so I was placed in regular. After a couple of months fighting for it I was accepted in to the higher math, Pre-Algebra, but not the English. The one problem I had was that I was now almost a month behind in learning the material the rest of the kids had already learned. The first day of my new class I was given all of the necessary material to teach myself and catch up, but these were things I had never seen before. When I got home that day I showed Char, knowing her excellence in math and she taught me up to and beyond what I needed to know for class in two days. From then on every night at dinner we would discuss my math class, and she was my personal teacher for when I did not understand something.
After we moved out and I began eighth grade, my family and I were shocked to find out that Char had been diagnosed with emphazema. Yet, by looking at her you would never tell. Her perspective on life did not change after she found out, and she did not expect to be treated differently because of her diagnosis. She remained strong while others crumbled to the horrendous news, and she insisted on doing things that most thought she could not. We still had our conversations about math, and she always finished it with, “You’re a smart boy, and even without me you will be a master mathematician.”
To this day I excel in math and always try my best in all I do. I thank Char everyday for helping me to see my full potential and for teaching me math. For her I will become the greatest of mathematicians and the best at what I choose to do. My companion Char lost her battle with cancer my sophomore year in high school. She is missed dearly and will never be forgotten.

At times the book makes you want to cry, its so poiniant. After reading this book I find myslef very lucky to have what I have. There were times when i re-read the paragraph just to see if it was really saying what it was saying. This book is my favourate book of all times, because its not the type of book that I would go for and it had kept me reading and reading for such a long time, which is rare beacause Im not in to books which make you feel sympathetic, but I give this book all the ratings. At first, when i heard about it I thought that this book must be over rated, but after reading it I take it all back. I would advice anyone to read this book. If you feel this book isnt your type by the title, take my word for it, you can like adventure books, factual books, novels, picture books but you will love this book. Thsi book was first introduced ti me by the librian, because every time I went there, i kept asking for books like the goosebumbs, and adventure books like that, and she disided to see what I would think of this book. There are follow ups to this book, which I have read, and personally I dont think they live up to the good standerds set by A child called it

"Gambling with the future":A history with and without tradition
We are ready to represent the best custom paper writing assistance that can cope with any task like "Gambling with the future":A history with and without tradition even at the eleventh hour. The matter is that we posses the greatest base of expert writers. Our staff of freelance writers includes approximately 300 experienced writers are at your disposal all year round. They are striving to provide the best ever services to the most desperate students that have already lost the hope for academic success. Get prepared and be smart with our best essay samples cheap and fast! Get in touch and we will write excellent custom coursework or essay especially for you.
In many literary works, history is a core theme. Such is the case in Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” and Thomas King’s “Totem”. Both stories’ themes stress the importance of being critical of history. Each story, however, takes a different approach on the treatment of this theme. “The Lottery” suggests one should question history and tradition, and perhaps it is time to move on or change. In “Totem,” the importance of remembering one’s heritage and past is the intended message and theme. More specifically, the theme stresses the importance of remembering the Native People of Canada who were once so abundant in number. They are a large part of Canada’s heritage, and are very rich in culture and tradition that should not be forgotten.
In Jackson’s “The Lottery,” the characters in the story place great emphasis on the matter of tradition. The plot follows a small village of closely related and well-acquainted people who refuse to let go of past traditions. One such tradition they perform is a ritualistic practice, which they refer to as “the lottery.” This lottery to which they refer, is not the typical kind one would expect. Rather, in this practice tickets are drawn from “the black box” to determine which of the village people was next to be stoned to death. The protagonist of this story, Tessie, ends up being the victim to this lottery, at which point her previously “positive” approach to this ritual changes to a more negative standpoint.
In “Totem,” King takes a slightly different approach on the matter of tradition. This story is centered around a Canadian museum/art gallery, which is dealing with a strange issue where totems keep re-appearing and disrupting the peace. All measures the museum takes to eliminate this problem are futile. There is an evident connection with the totems and native population of Canada. The totems show constant resistance when the museum workers try to be rid of them, hollering and crying louder as though becoming more infuriated with each attempt at removing them. Eventually they are left to be undisturbed.
To be critical of history would be to question the things one does frequently as tradition, and decide whether these traditions, in fact, have any important basis. Traditions are any kind of teaching, written or spoken, handed down from generation to generation. In “The Lottery” as previously stated, the people are not critical of their history, because they don’t question the traditions they partake in. The village in “The Lottery” is so keen on maintaining and upholding their sacred practices that they do so without even any thought. This is made most obvious by the text; “The people had done it so many times that they only half listened to the directions” (). In “Totem,” however, the people at the museum are also not critical of history because they don’t question the traditions of their Country’s past. The author uses a play on irony that shows how in a Canadian historical museum, that with the most historic significance, namely the totems, is shunned upon by the museum workers. The characters in both short stories simply go about their business doing as told without any further thought, but both are on opposite ends of the spectrum.
In both “The Lottery” and “Totem,” the characters are not critical of their history or past, because neither accept change or are open-minded to alternate choices. They are stuck with the mentality that they, and only they are correct. In “The Lottery” the people of the village feel that by maintaining this lottery, they are more civilized than those other villages that have chosen to abolish this practice. This is seen when one of characters from this story, Old Man Warner, says “Pack of crazy fools, listening to young folks, nothing’s good enough for them. Next thing you know, they’ll be wanting to live in caves” (4). Therefore they continue to follow through with their age-old custom. In “Totem,” it is not made blatantly obvious, but since the workers constantly anger the totems by trying to be rid of them, they refuse to consider the totems’ view, which after further investigation can be linked to the Natives’ fight for fairness after the arrival of the first Europeans to Canada. Such an inference can be made when one of the main characters from this story says, “Maybe if we ignore it, it will stop singing. It might even go away or disappear or something” (4). No attempt at accepting the totem and making compromise was made, which implies neither is willing to change or admit they could be wrong in their judgment.
The symbols found in “Totem” and “The Lottery” appear to be very different. However, after further analysis of both stories the universal meaning behind certain symbols is very similar. The story with the more obvious symbol would be “Totem”. As mentioned previously, the totems themselves represent the Native People who once inhabited most of Canada. However, if this story is looked at on a slightly more general perspective, one could say the totems battling the museum by making themselves noticed and attracting attention to themselves represent the fight to keep history alive where it has almost been forgotten. The museum can almost be looked at as a dictator, which one can also interpret the village in “The Lottery” to be as well. Both control their inhabitants, and both leave little room for independent thought. Also, in many ways Tessie of “The Lottery,” and the totems of “Totem,” represent the courageous hero that chooses to stand alone and fight for what they believe is right. In Tessie’s case, this symbolism was only made near the conclusion of the story by her words “’It isn’t fair, it isn’t right” (6). The totems demonstrated their rebellion to the so-called “dictator” throughout the entire course of the story. One can also say the tragic hero in both stories courageously “dies”, but their cause is not lost.
“Totem” and “The Lottery” appear to be completely different stories irrelevant to each other. However, the theme of both stories, which delves into being critical of history, is made a very clear message. Each story is on opposite ends of the extreme. In “Totem” history is forgotten where it is important, whereas in “The Lottery” too much attention is given to history where it is pointless, even harmful, leaving no room for innovative thought. In both stories, neither situation shows the characters to be keen on change or considering another viewpoint different from their own. Symbolic meanings behind each of the points stated works to further support this argument, for they share the same universal meaning. When analyzing both these stories one can interpret a second more concealed message, which is that using what you are told and what you learn, and drawing your own conclusions is the only way to break out of a possibly harmful cycle. Perhaps Hegel was right when he said, “We learn from history that man can never learn anything from history.”

Marketing Mix
The Marketing Mix is like another common mix, a cake mix.
The marketing mixs most famous phrase is also known as the Four Ps.
Elements of the Marketing Mix are Product, Price, Promotion and Place
(or route of distribution). The country we have chosen to do our Marketing
Mix in is Argentina, and the product is Oxi-Clean., which is a cleaning
product.
This product has been proved to be an excellent cleaner, and has
been a number one seller in the United States.
Local Agents in Argentina have played a key role in placing
Foreign (particularly European and US) industrial products in Argentina,
because they provide a convenient, efficient link between potential end
users, in most cases, agents are responsible for introductions, consulting
about market strategies for their market, arrangements for exhibitions at
local fairs, and general promotional activities.
They generally help in the negotiations and final sale of the product
and then perform support services, helping with quotations, financing,
import regulations, permits arranging for warehousing of inventory and
collections. Agents are generally paid a fee plus a royalty or commission
based on sales volume and receipts.
Entry into the Argentine market can be accomplished in a variety of
ways by using already established local distribution channels, such as
agents and Argentine importers; through joint venture and licensing
arrangements with Argentine firms; by direct marketing; or through the
more substantial investment needed to open a branch or subsidiary in
Argentina.
The goal is to determine how to reach the primary users of the
product or service through the most efficient, cost-effective means, then
learn how to gain their repeat business.
By doing business through an Argentine agent or distributor, an
exporter can avoid having to wade through all of those details. Test-
marketing through a few Argentina based specialists can show the nature,
location, and size of a market before a heavy investment is made.
On the other hand, marketing through someone else will mean a loss
of a percentage of the profits, of some control over the process, and learning
the finer points of the process. The exporter will have to rely on the Argentine
representatives investigation, marketing decisions, and general smarts. The exporters
product will also probably be only one of many handled by the distributor. Understanding
Argentina’s cultural heritage is necessary for understanding its people and how business
is done in the country.
U.S. companies intending to export to Argentina should consider economic,
demographic, as well as cultural characteristics that differentiate it from other Latin
American countries. Having the highest per capita gross domestic product and the second
highest total gross domestic product and life expectancy in Latin America, as well as low
rates of population increase and illiteracy rates, Argentina attracts many business
opportunities. The population and economic activity are highly concentrated in the
greater Buenos Aires area. The population is largely of European descent and continues to
have strong ethnic, cultural, as well as business ties with Europe. Consumer preferences
tend to resemble more those of Europeans than those of other Latin America nationals.
However, revenues are highly dependent on MERCOSUR trade, especially with Brazil,
and the regional economic situation.
In many sectors, European competitors of U.S. firms are already present in the
market, and may be well entrenched. Nevertheless, the U.S. is Argentina’s single largest
trade and investment partner and many U.S. firms have been very successful. U.S.
lifestyle and consumption habits are increasingly influential. U.S. products have a strong
reputation for quality and technological innovation, but U.S. firms are sometimes seen as
lacking commitment to the market. It is important to be prepared for a competitive market
environment. As in many countries, personal relationships are fundamental to doing
business in Argentina. Success requires taking the time to develop a close personal
relationship with your representative, agent or distributor. Marketing U.S. products and
services in Argentina requires the same level of research, preparation and involvement--if
not more--as domestic marketing. U.S. firms handicap themselves if their product
literature, labels, manuals and other written materials are not in Spanish. When preparing
Spanish-language materials, care should be taken to ensure the meaning is consistent for
all Spanish-speaking markets in which they will be used. Argentine Spanish differs for
example, from Mexican or Chilean Spanish, with unintended - and sometimes
embarrassing - meanings resulting when a translator is not familiar with variations in the
language from market to market. After analyzing the product and its uses and establishing
who the potential customers are, U.S. companies intending to export to Argentina should
identify the geographical areas where the major users of the product are. It should be born
in mind that 80 percent of the Argentine population is concentrated in urban areas, with
over 5% living in Buenos Aires and its suburbs, and almost 10% in three cities Cordoba,
Rosario and Mendoza and their suburbs.

Channels of Distribution
An integral part of our business infrastructure is the warehousing and distribution
of our product. Our distribution is business-to-business and business-to-consumer,
verifying shipment accuracy, unpack, inspect for damage and generally stock for sale the
same day. We then pick, pack and ship customers’ orders, inserts, and promotional
literature.
We offer a full-scale, client-specific reverse logistics program, linking all returns
processing in real-time to the inventory management system. Returns are entered to the
system upon receipt of the product, at which time a client-specific set of standards
regarding re-stocking and disposal or warranty is applied.
Our extensive use of advanced technology and equipment in our distribution
centers enables us to generally maintain an order accuracy rate and ship in-stock orders
the same day. We will weigh the advantages of using existing channels against the
advantages of starting from scratch. Our goal is to reach the primary users of the product
through the most efficient, cost-effective means to gain their repeated business.
OxiClean will consider hiring a local agent in helping place our product in
Argentina. The Principal-agent arrangements in general involves less commitment and
less expense than virtually any other means of introducing our product into a foreign
economy.
By doing this OxiClean places the responsibility for handling the
importation process in the hands of local Argentine businesspeople, which is
knowledgeable about the local market, culture, and language. Argentine has an open-
market policy, which reduced and eliminated many barriers to international trade, import
tariffs were cut by more than half and surcharges were eliminated allowing goods to enter
duty-free.
We will distribute to small retailers, hypermarkets, and supermarkets and even
send out promotional packages to the consumer directly. Intermodal Transportation will
allow us more than one mode of transportation such as shipments traveling across the
ocean or by way of air.

Market Research and Analysis
Target Market
Oxiclean will target consumers of all genders in Argentina. This includes
professional athletes, small and large businesses, as well as household consumers.
Because of Oxiclean’s ability to remove stains, odor, and dirt, all consumers will benefit
from its versatility.
Professional soccer player Diego Maradona was chosen as the spokesperson for
Oxiclean. Because soccer is the most popular sport in Argentina, utilizing this
professional sports player to market Oxiclean will lead to increased sales.
We are also targeting small and large businesses because by using Oxiclean, they
will be able to save on labor costs. This easy, safe, effective, and efficient product
provides such a wide range of flexibility that if used, numerous products will no longer
be needed to achieve the same outcome.
Lastly, household consumers will be targeted, especially those that have children
and pets. Oxiclean conquers pet odors, stains from baby formula, clothes, and carpet. In
addition, it is chlorine-free, odor-free, and color safe, all of which are necessary when
children and pets reside at the property.

This report includes the following information about is about certain aspects, uses and the effects on the labour force and nature of work.
Australian executives are working long hours just to deal with the vast quantity of emails they receive. Many of the emails read at work are from colleagues and friends and messages are often jokes or social messages. Such is level of the problem that recent surveys mentioned, and identified as ‘information fatigue syndrome’, where email users are bombarded with so much information they simply cannot cope.
Email can present a potentially enormous drain on the time of staff these result in staff conflict, reduce staff productivity and expose the organisation to legal action.

Privacy
There are five major areas which trigger privacy matters in the area of public sector employment background checks, cognizance of off duty conduct and lifestyles, drug testing, workplace searches, and monitoring of workplace activity. Of these five, the fifth area of privacy, monitoring of workplace activity, is the most controversial. The reason for this is the advance of technology. These conflicts open anew the basic questions as to what is private, what is propriety, what legal rights an employee possesses, and what an employee’s obligations and responsibilities are within the sphere of public employment. This is one area where an employees privacy interests may be violated in a technological environment by fellow employees who may use bulletin boards to post embarrassing information or defamatory messages to be read by others. This conception of privacy can also be extended to a claim against pervasive intrusion by employers into employees work activities. An employee may feel constant camera surveillance, monitoring of phone calls and computer use, and an accounting for every minute of duty time reflects an omnipresent, oppressive employer, who exhibits little trust and little respect for the employee.

Internet usage
In 15, the Internet first gained a serious foothold. Workers could now send written communications in
Seconds rather than minutes; look up information in minutes rather than hours;
And perform complex business-to-business transactions in hours rather than days.
In short, the Internet streamlined time-consuming business tasks and cut down
Needless bureaucracies. Yet, while the Net introduced e-mail, e-commerce and
Research tools, it also fostered e-zines, ETrade and e-porn. And recently it has
Opened even more avenues in entertainment, gambling and shopping, becoming a
Central source of leisure and enjoyment for employees. Because of this, the
Internet is beginning to create negative productivity and “hostile workplace”
problems.
While e-mail was the first Internet application to take hold of corporate Australia,
the World Wide Web clearly had the biggest impact. Little did scientists Tim
Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau know how dramatically their modest research
paper “WorldWideWeb Proposal for a HyperText Project” (November, 10)
would boldly transform the business world. Berners-Lee and Cailliau envisioned
a simple navigational tool linking computer data, text or graphics, together into a
web of pages. Hence, the designation “World Wide Web” was born. People
around the world would be able to view information on others’ computers through
a single, basic interface. This is a soure from the Websense White Paper Series Internet Usage and the Workplace on March 1 1, by Allan Hancowski
As such, corporate Internet access has shifted from an information technology
issue networks and firewalls to a human resources issue. As this shift
continues, human resource professionals will be relied upon to take a greater role
in managing employee Internet usage. Departments will be challenged to
make the Internet a benefit for both the corporation and the employee.
The Internet has allowed people to go from the office to just about anywhere to conduct business. This ability has led to telecommuting - working at a location outside of the traditional office setting. People can work from home, while on vacation, or even when traveling by plane or car! Most telecommuters work from home to enjoy the benefits of staying at home while having a career as well.
Telecommuting has many benefits for the employees, but also offers advantages to the employers as well. One of the most obvious advantages is to be able to work at anytime, day or night, that is most convenient for the employee . Employees may have increased productivity since they are free from the everyday hassles of the office such as office politics, gossip, non-essential meetings, and all the commotion that tends to be in an office atmosphere. atmosphere that is comfortable, familiar.
Time and Resources
Regular exercise has been credited as one of the most important factors in preventing and alleviating the symptoms of mental illness. According to the Amustralian Psychological Association, exercise can relieve the symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety and can help people with more serious disorders such as schizophrenia and manic-depression. Norwegian psychiatrist Egil Martinesen, M.D., director of the Psychiatric Clinic in Forde, Norway, showed in 185 that adding exercise to the psychotherapy of 4 depressed patients significantly lowered their levels of depression. Other researchers have found similar links between exercise and mood.
“Exercise is about as close to a panacea as you can get, and I don’t believe in panaceas,” says Jerry May, Ph.D., former chair of the. Olympic Committee’s Sports Psychology Committee and psychiatry professor at the University of Ferendo at Reno’s School of Medicine.
“It is a health inducer, a stress reducer and a self-confidence booster.”
Everyone responds to stress in a different manner. What is distressing for one person may be exciting and positive to another. Our response to stress is determined by our ability to cope with the demands and expectations put on us by internal and external sources. Incorporating good health habits and attitudes in our everyday lives helps maintain both physical and mental health.
Healthy workplace
The worksite is a key venue for promoting health for large segments of the population because of the direct benefits to companies and because so many people spend a large portion of their time at work. Also, it is one of the key environments that affect mental well-being and health. There are many factors involved in promoting employees’ well-being and mental health. Improving employee health requires change at the individual, organizational and population levels. This type of change happens through a comprehensive, balanced approach focusing on health practices and the relationship between employees and their environments. The WHO says there are three main issues employers and managers face as they attempt to address the mental health needs of their employees. Recognition and acceptance of mental health as a legitimate concern of organizations. As disability costs and absenteeism increase in the workplace due to mental ill health regardless of the precipitating factors more and more employers are faced with the challenge of developing policies and guidelines to address these issues.
Employers working with their governments and various health organizations should consider implementing nationwide “healthy workplace weeks” to draw attention to big-picture employee health strategies.
One of the most effective strategies to alleviate workplace problems caused by stress and employee well-being issues is the establishment of company-sponsored employee assistance programs (EAPs). In his keynote speech at the 1th Annual Rosalynn Carter Symposium on mental health, Richard G. Frank, Ph.D., professor of health economics at Harvard Medical School, cited data that shows a $ return for businesses on every dollar they spend on EAPs. According to the National Mental Health Association, all evidence indicates that appropriate use of behavioral health benefits, such as EAPs, reduces the inappropriate use of general medical care. EAPs typically provide supportive, diagnostic, referral and counseling treatment services. Traditionally, EAP programs were established to assist employees dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction, but they have broadened in scope to help employees resolve personal and work related problems. section.
Teamwork and communication contribute to a happy and productive workplace environment. Give everyone a chance to make their contribution to the team today World Mental Health Day Magazine July issue by Adam Borland
What can you do to make your workplace a more enjoyable space? Take a few moments to reflect on your work and how you can make it more satisfying and pleasurable. Make a start today News article Gazette, 5 August 00, by Nina Cortez
Mobile Phones
The Mobile phone has become the fastest selling consumer device in history selling more than million of these little hand held phones. Sending and Receiving messages, organize material such as telephone numbers and addresses, and downloading as well via internet
6% of Australians now carry a mobile phone, and the technology is having an enormous effect on Australian society.” (Fraser. S, (001) APC, pg 6 & 68, 16 August 00).
Almost every distinctive member of staff is outfitted with a mobile phone. Mobile phones are for employees to contact the business while working outside. Usage in the office ought to be reserved to a lowest amount. Mobile phones are very useful and convenient in the place of work and outside of the workplace, as there is no cord and phone line. When employees go to meetings outside of the office, they can be contacted anytime regarding to the work.
Again mobile has so many advantages such as messaging, downloading, receiving emails and calls from overseas or local.
These days some of the mobile phones capture video clips and even pictures this is a disadvantage in the workplace environment. This is because this can lead to sexual harassment by taking pictures of women in the toilet. It also results in procrastination this mean socializing over the phone with your friend or relative. The final disadvantage is that it causes headaches. As mentioned in the quote below
‘Excess usage of mobile phone for example -5 hours a day may annihilate some of your brain cells which concludes to headaches’ said by Dr Patrick Moore. In the E-commerce issue December 00.

the World Wide Web clearly had the biggest impact.
Traditionally, EAP programs were established to assist employees dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction, but they have broadened in scope to help employees resolve personal and work related problems. section.

Again mobile has so many advantages such as messaging, downloading, receiving emails and calls from overseas or local.
These days some of the mobile phones capture video clips and even pictures this is a disadvantage in the workplace environment. Lately, marijuana laws have been a very common and heated topic on the news. There are many reasons to agree or to disagree with
its legalization. It has both, negative and positive sides. The argument
against legalization falls into two main categories health risks and the
social message legalization woul convey.
Early American colonists grew marijuana crops for the production
of paper, clothing and rope. It was so important, farmers were fined if they
didnt grow it. Marijuana can be used medicinally to treat lack of appetite,
pain and depression, treatment of glancoma, nausea. Non-harmful side
effects of marijuana use include being very hungry or thirsty, feelings of
euphonia or peacefulness, increase of sexual appetite. Used medicinally,
marijuana is great at treating cancer and AIDS patients. Its biodegradable
and easy to grow.
However, on the flip side you have the negatives. All forms of marijuana
alters how the brain works. Harmful side of marijuana use include changes in
memory, perception, and judgement, dry mouth, rapid heart beat, loss of
coordination, etc. Marijuana contains some of the same (and sometimes
in higher quantities) cancer causing agents as tobacco. Studies shows that
smoking three to five joints a day is equivalent to inhaling twenty cigarettes.
Statistics point about the gateway drug theory which suggests young people
who try pot will eventually experiment and get hooked on harder drugs.
Marijuana should not be used by the general public, it should be against the
law and is a danger to most people. We must way the benefits and
drawbacks to any drug. According to studies, marijuana isnt any better than
other drugs on the market to aleve pain and nausea. But if its all that works
for you exceptions must be made. For terminally ill patients or patients with
chronic severe pain, it can be argued that the positive effects outweigh the
negative side effects. But in a perfectly healthy person, this is not true. We
dont allow other addictive drugs on the street, such as morphine, so why
should marijuana be different. All Drugs should be regulated and if found
unsafe for common use they should be available only to those who truly need
it. Anyone selling or using an illegal drug should be punished according to the
law with a sentence that fits the crime.

What is the point of working your whole life to EARN or WORK for money, when there is no need to? Why not go to school to learn about how money works and how to have money work for you instead of learning how to earn it and be an employee instead of an employer?
The answer Take a lesson in Entrapreuship. Read some books, anything that will expand your knowledge on the subject of money. There is no point of becoming more and more specialized in one field of education in order to earn more money when it just brings across bigger debt. Only buy things that you NEED until you start earning enough money that will never be in debt. Harder done than said you say? Well take these words of advice and think about them for a momentThe one thing that stops people trying to do this is fear, fear of losing money. When in actual fact you are losing more money by not researching or trying an actual worthwile method of becoming rich. Define the term rich. Everybody has there own opinion, yet i agree that becoming rich means that you can live comfortably without lifting a finger, sitting at home, while your money is working for you and giving you a healthy cash inflow. Just remember that knowledge is everything, so stock up and try to read at least one book a month or attend a seminar once every six months, anything you can do to expand your mind, and just remember dont listen to people philosphies about becomes rich if they themselves are not, because after all, if there philosophy was right wouldnt they themselves be rich? Only take in GOOD advice from people that have been there and truly know what tehy are talking about. Enjoy and dont be scared to venture into the unknown, ninety percent of the time it will bring riches.

ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL
Before and even after the Declaration of Independence was signed white men owned slaves. Even though the Declaration of Independence states, All men are created equal, many people had to work for equality. The Declaration of Independence was rooted in fairness and equality. In this essay, I intend to summarize, analyze, and explain this phrase in the Declaration of Independence.
Even though each person is unique and different each person is born with equal rights. Yes, every individual has different talents and abilities and some are better than the others, but each person no matter what their faults or differences deserves the respect to be treated equally. Because Americans were born with equal rights that gives us the right to vote, the right to not be discriminated because of race or ethnic background, and the right with common ability to make a choice for the destiny of our own life. It is how we choose that separates us from others.
Many brave men and woman had to climb over high obstacles to receive the equality that you and I enjoy today. For instance, Abraham Lincoln felt like Americas principles and morals were decaying. He understood the phrase all men are created equal this was his ground for the abolition of slavery. Abraham Lincoln said that the founding framers, intended to include all men, but they did not intend to declare all men equal in all respects. They did not mean to say all were equal in color, size, intellect, moral developments, or social capacity. Abraham Lincoln also believed in the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Fortunately, Abraham Lincolns ideas lead to the abolition of slavery.
If we did not have freedom and equality there would be no 4th of July. The nation was divided on the issue of slavery. Many Americans argued that African Americans were not allowed the same rights, but did the constitution specify which men were created equal? Some Americans even believed that African Americans could not have rights because they were not citizens. For example, in the Dred Scott case Judge Taney said in so many words that they were not citizens because they were not specifically in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. But Judge Curtis, said in five of the then thirteen states...free negroes were voters, and, in proportion to their numbers, had the same part in making the Constitution that the white people had. The fact that the African Americans played the same part as the whites in the Constitution meant that they then had the same amount of freedom as the whites. Meaning that they were citizens.
Because Thomas Jefferson said that all men are created equal, today slavery is considered unconstitutional. If all mankind would search their hearts the pure heart that the creator of mankind put in their bosoom they would have always sought for equality among all men that dwelled together on the earth he created. But a better statement would be The worth of souls is equal in the creators eye. How can we treat one of his creations with less dignity and respect? As procreators do we not love all we create? The constitution was applicable to all men or women at all times. The creator put his seal upon it.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also commonly known as PTSD, is a disabling mental state that is linked with experiencing first hand life-altering and physically threatening events that include, but are not limited to, military wars and combat, natural disasters and other human-caused traumas such as attacks, muggings or rapes. People involved in such major events as the terrorist attacks on America on September 11th, the Oklahoma City bombing and hurricanes Andrew and Hugo are easy targets for severe mental lapses that can be symptoms of PTSD. Not only can the actual victims, however, be affected by this disorder. Friends and family members of the victims can also suffer.
The symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are not physical and are usually not noticeable to anyone who is not themselves experiencing the effects. There are, however, some unique cases in which the victim can act ill-tempered and cross. The National Institute of Mental Health describes the symptoms
Many people with PTSD repeatedly re-experience the ordeal in the form of flashback episodes, memories, nightmares, or frightening thoughts, especially when they are exposed to events or objects reminiscent of the trauma. Anniversaries of the event can also trigger symptoms. People with PTSD also experience emotional numbness and sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety, and irritability or outbursts of anger. Feelings of intense guilt are also common. Most people with PTSD try to avoid any

reminders or thoughts of the ordeal. PTSD is diagnosed when symptoms last more than 1 month. (NIMH)
People with PTSD may lack self-esteem or have relationship problems or may seem disconnected from their lives. Other problems that may mask or intensify symptoms include psychiatric problems including depression, dissociation or other anxiety disorders such as panic disorder; self-destructive problems such as drug and alcohol abuse; and physical complaints such as chronic pain or fatigue, cramps, breathing problems and eating disorders (PTSDAlliance).
One of the most at-risk factors for experiencing PTSD is the participation in warfare in a military setting, in which the victim is witness to mass killings of a more destructive and graphic nature. The scenes and pictures that veterans of past wars have seen remain etched in their memories for months, and in severe cases years following the traumatic experience. Statistics show that the involvement in military combat leaves a person at a .7% chance of experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Research also demonstrates that of the 70% of people that will experience a traumatic event in their lifetime, 0% will proceed to be victims of PTSD (PTSDAlliance).
